Eligiblity

Residents of Ontario, 18 years and older, with a verified physical or mental healthy disability that is expected to last a year or more and makes it difficult for them to care for themselves, go into the community or work. Must be financially eligible.

Income Support: Helps pay for living expenses, health benefits (drug and dental). Possible funding for special diets, incontinence supplies, transportation to medical appointments and medical supplies. Speak to ODSP worker for info.

Employment Support: helps people with disabilities who can work, prepare for and find a job. Types of employment supports include

  • help preparing for work
  • help finding and keeping a job
  • job coaching
  • on-the-job trainig
  • software and mobility devices to help you do your job
  • interpreter or intervenor services
  • transportation assistance
  • assertive devices and training to use them
  • tools and equipment you need for your job
  • special clothing for your job
  • specialized computer training

To be eligible for Employment supports, you must:

  • be 16 years of age or older
  • be a resident of Ontario
  • be able to work in Canada
  • have a disability that is expected to last a year or ore, and
  • have a disability that makes it hard for you to find or keep a job

If you are a student and you wish to work part-time while you are going to school, you may be eligible for Employment Supports.

You do not have to be receiving financial assistance from ODSP to be eligible for Employment Supports.

However, clients with a taxable income over %51,0000 need to contribute toward the cost of their supports.

Eligibility Process: 

Apply at 17.5 years

ODSP will determine financial eligibility

Proof of disability. && Use letter of eligibility from DSO, or provide psychological/medical report stating diagnosis.
