Description of Service:

Eligibility

Children from prenatal period to age 12 and their families, predominantly in communities of East York and Scarborough.  Children who receive services present with some combination of the following special needs: behavioural, emotional and adjustment difficulties, speech and language delays/disorders, hyperactivity, attention deficit disorders, autism spectrum disorders and trauma which may have resulted from abuse, family violence, significant loss or family disruption.  The Residence accepts referrals from across Toronto through the Centralzied Access to Residential Services (CARS) system.  Referrals for other agency services from outside of Scarborough/East York (within the boundaries of the city of Toronto) are accepted upon request (eg. day treatment).  some programs have specific catchment areas and age ranges due to funding parameters e.g. Toronto Partnership for Autism Services (TPAS)

Description of Services

Autism Services: Toronto Partnership for Autism Services and Toronto Autism Applied Behaviour Analysis Services (ABA) which serves children and youth up until their 18th birthday.

Babies Best Start, Counselling, Child Care Consultation, Community Support, Day and Residential Treatment, prenatal programs, intensive child and family services, parent coaching, speech and language services.

Some programs are also dedicated to serving child welfare clients only eg. Priority Access, Dads Connection and Beyond the Basics.

The Centre also provides prevention and early intervention services to children.  The centre also provides consultation services to staff from other agencies and public education forums on issues related to children's mental health and healthy child development.
