Description of Service

Family Support: intake/needs assessment and community referrals, counseling, individual consultations, sibling and parent support groups, parent network, assistance with accessing funding. Fees may apply for consultation.

Adult Services: for individuals with ASD 18 to 30 years of age; Bridging Abilities and Steps for Success programs focus on skills for community inclusion in the areas of vocational (including volunteering), post-secondary and recreation/leisure. Weekend Respite for Adults. During the months of September to June, Social clubs and Movie nights for individuals with ASD.

Education and Training: educational workshops and seminars for parents, caregivers and professionals, including summer training institute and certificate courses.

Financial Assistance: provide support to explore and access various sources of funding.

Movie Night: 8 times a year, the centre hosts a private showing of a recent feature film for individuals with Asperger's Syndrome and their families and friends. Geneva Centre is a member of the Respite Network, a community-wide respite network facilitated by respiteservices.com

Skill Building Group Interventions: music and movement, play skills (ages 5-6), social skills (ages 7-13), peer supports (ages 14-18)

Behaviour Communication Services: for families of school age children.  Parent Education, coaching, and intervention planning for behavior management, communication and life skills development.

Preschool Behaviour Communication Services:  for families of preschoolers, referred by Early Abilities (Speech, Language, Vision and Hearing).  Parent education, coaching and intervention planning for communication, behavior management and life skills development.

Intensive Behaviour Intervention (IBI) Services: Toronto Partnership for Autism Services (TPAS); TPAS Jumpstart program.

Respite Care: a variety of out of home respite programs providing temporary relief to parents and guardians from the physical and emotional demands involved in caring for a family member with ASD.  Includes; Bridges Afterschool Respite, Weekend Respite for Children and Bridges Summer Camp.

Customized Consultation and Staff Training: available to school boards and other service providers.

Reference Library and Information: telephone and web-based information
